There is something about Notre Dame Football that makes people lose their grip on reality. Colin Cowherd is a prime example. The long-time sports talk host continues to present himself as a college football expert, but his arguments are recycled and lack substance. His recent comments about Notre Dame’s scheduling difficulties are based on a fabricated quote attributed to athletic director Pete Bevacqua, showing he is more interested in serving as a mouthpiece for USC than providing honest analysis.
Cowherd’s repeated claims about USC holding leverage over Notre Dame are baseless. He ignores the fact that Notre Dame’s independent status gives it flexibility and financial strength. The Fighting Irish are thriving on the recruiting trail under head coach Marcus Freeman, and the program is generating substantial revenue. On the hockey front, Notre Dame recently secured a transfer from North Dakota, David Klee, adding depth to the roster.
It is time for Cowherd to retire his tired narratives and acknowledge that Notre Dame football is in a strong position. The program continues to build momentum, and the recent recruiting successes indicate a bright future.
