The team facing Vasco on Wednesday (13), Paysandu, finds itself in one of its best moments of the season. The Pará side hasn’t lost since their first encounter with Vasco in the Copa do Brasil and comes into the decisive match at São Januário on a strong run.
After the defeat in the first leg against Vasco, Paysandu quickly bounced back. Since then, they have played five matches and won all of them — three in Série C and two in the Copa Verde. With this winning streak, the team has taken the lead in the third division and remains firm in the fight for promotion to Série B.
Their offensive form is also impressive. Paysandu is the club with the most goals scored among the 20 participants in Série C in 2026. The numbers grew even more after a 5-1 thrashing of Águia de Marabá last week. Overall, the team has scored 57 goals in 25 matches this season.

Among the standouts are forwards Ítalo Carvalho and Kleiton Pego, the club’s top scorer and runner-up scorer of the year, respectively. In midfield, young prospect Pedro Henrique, who has already been transferred to Flamengo, and captain Marcinho serve as the main technical references in the squad.
Vasco takes the field with the advantage built in the first leg, where they won 2-0. Therefore, Renato Gaúcho’s side can even afford to lose by a single goal to secure a spot in the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil. The match will be played at 7 PM (Brasília time) at São Januário.
