Goalkeeper Nikita Medvedev of Paris Nizhny Novgorod has been called to a meeting of the Russian Football Union’s Control and Disciplinary Committee (CDC) for unsportsmanlike conduct, according to a statement on the RFU website. The statement noted that based on media reports, Medvedev’s behavior would be reviewed, and the player has been invited to attend the hearing.
The incident occurred during the 29th round of the Russian Premier League (RPL) match against CSKA Moscow, which ended in a 1-2 loss for Paris NN. Medvedev used profanity to criticize his own fans for displaying banners supporting former head coach Aleksey Shpilevsky.
After 29 rounds, Paris NN sits 15th in the RPL table with 22 points, occupying the second-to-last position. The team will play its final match of the season on May 17 against Rubin Kazan away from home.
