The current President of the International Skating Union (ISU), Kim Yoo-Il, has been confirmed as the only candidate for the position, according to the organization’s press service.
The election will take place during the ISU Congress on June 12 in Tenerife. Kim has held the top role since 2022. Previously, he served on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coordination Commission for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and chaired the Korean Skating Union from 2011 to 2016.
Five Russian candidates have been nominated for leadership roles within the ISU. Aleksandra Kibalko is proposed as a candidate for vice president and for the ISU Speed Skating Council. Four more Russian candidates are vying for technical committee positions: Yulia Andreeva may join the Single & Pair Skating Committee, Alla Shekhovtsova the Ice Dance Committee, Ulyana Chirkova the Synchronized Skating Committee, and Mikhail Sokolov the Short Track Committee.
